REAR ENDS At FREEDOM TRANSMISSION and Automotive Service we do all of the components of the drive train related to drive output including the standard and automatic transmission, transfer case and the 3rd member where the differential is an independent member of an in-line configuration commonly known as the rear end. Some 4 wheel drive vehicles have 2 of them, one in the front and one in the back of the vehicle. These axle housings contain the hypoid ring and pinion gear set, and differential gears which are all serviceable. Early detection of noises, like whines at certain speeds, howling, noises that come on during acceleration and go away when decelerated, can protect very expensive internal parts from failure if the problem is checked out soon enough. Often times the unit can be repaired during an overhaul with new bearings and seals. Lubrication is very important, so come in on a routine basis and have your fluid levels checked and drive train members inspected for leaks.
